The Breakfast Club (1995) by John Hughes- a quote that sums up what little people understand about the young. Have faith in them, their abilities and get to really know them, support their ideas and make it a reality. These are what my mentors taught me, and this is what Ascendance, stands for.
The Breakfast Club a classic film about teenagers, the struggles they go through and how they find love, humor and friendship in between all this.
What I love about The Breakfast Club is the way it portrays it’s character, each having a distinct stereotypical personality at first glance. We the audience who have seen or dealt with kids like this in school before instantly connect to these stereotypical behaviours…
But what this film does is subtly reveal what lies underneath, the truth about such personalities and the flaws they go through. The inability to open up due to a facade, suicide as opposed to academic failure, abusive parents who created an angry child, sexual assault, very high expectations that cause teenagers to break….
Such deep themes all explored in a humorous day in detention is what makes the Breakfast Club a classic….. And a film I truly enjoy….
